Arsenal news: Gunners close in on loan signing of Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez
Arsenal are on the verge of landingBarcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.The midfielder is set to sign for the Gunners on loan for the rest of the season, with the Gunners having an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.2

Suarez is set to complete a move to the Emirates

Suarez previously played under Emirates boss Unai Emery at Sevilla and the pair formed a good relationship.Although he is primarily a central midfielder, the 25-year-old can play on the flanks too and was used as a winger by Emery in the 2014/15 season.The Spaniard has appeared 71 times for Barcelona since his move from Villareal in 2016 – but he has struggled for game-time this season, having featured just eight times this term. Emery had been looking to complete the move for the player earlier this month, but there were complications between the two parties over whether there should be an obligation rather than option for him to sign permanently.Suarez is no stranger to life in England – he played for Manchester City from 2011-2013 but he only made two first team appearances before moving to Barcelona for his first spell at the Nou Camp.2

Emery has worked with Suarez before

After a successful spell on loan at Sevilla, Suarez joined Villarreal in 2015 where he impressed enough for Barcelona to take up an option to buy him back a year later.Now the one-cap international is set to move on from Barca again, to reunite with Emery in north London.Arsenal are also looking to complete a loan move for Ivan Perisic before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.The Croatian is keen on a move to the Premier League andInter director Guiseppe Marotta confirmed he handed in a transfer request on Sunday.
