West Brom sack head coach Darren Moore following disappointing Ipswich draw
West Brom have sacked head coach Darren Moore, the Championship club have announced.The move comes within hours of the Baggies’ 1-1 draw against bottom club Ipswich, which further dented their faltering promotion hopes.2

West Brom have parted company with Darren Moore

Chief Executive Mark Jenkins told the club’s official website: “This has been an enormously difficult decision for a club which will always hold Darren in such high regard.“He took over at a very difficult time last season and reunited the club, a contribution that will never be forgotten.”2

Moore had been praised for rebuilding the team into Championship contenders

Jenkins added: “We have made it clear from the outset that everything this season was geared to making as swift a return to the Premier League as possible.“Unfortunately Darren has not been able to engineer the consistency of form and results to convince the board that this objective would be met.“After discussions with our owners, the difficult decision to make a change was taken.“Darren’s dedication over the last 12 months is not underestimated and there will always be a welcome for him at the Hawthorns.” Former Baggies defender Moore had been a popular replacement for Alan Pardew in April 2018.And despite failing to save the club from relegation, he was widely praised for the way in which he rebuilt his side into Championship contenders.But their recent run of poor form has accounted for Moore and his assistants, Graeme Jones and Wayne Jacobs, who have also been relieved of their duties.Albion first-team coach James Shan has been placed in charge of first-team affairs until a replacement for Moore has been named.
